Abena Disroe

Abena Disroe has been seen performing at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York, National Theatre in Washington, DC, Source Theatre in Washington, DC, with her plays: Fire in the Spirit, and
Spirits of Fire. Internationally known oner of her mostv memorable moments was when she traveled, and spoke on Haiti International Radio in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Also known as a JAZZ Poet High Priestess of Poetry has performed on MHZ2 Cable Networks with Patti Austin during the month of June 2002, Daveed Nelson of "The Last Poets", Robert Northern (Brother AH who has played with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sun RA,) Natambu Elijah Russ who has played with the Temptations, and Billy Nicolas, Red Foxx, Four Tops, and many others with platforms where she graced the stage Nationally, and Internationally. April 2003 Abena opened all four (4) shows with the Jazz Legend Angela Bofill.

Abena conducts workshops with Senior Citizens Wellness Centers, Sororities, Fraternities, Churches, Elementary, Jr. High, and High Schools. Workshops have also been conducted, and designed for cancer patients, emerging poets, and performance artists.

Presently Abena is working with Cancer patients at Howard University with Poetry as Therapy, and forming a youth group of poets whom she will mentor in writing, with the purpose of dealing with peer pressure, conflict, and to increase self-esteem.
